#EqualPlayEqualPay Newsletter (09.28.19)
At genEquality, one of our core beliefs that gender, race, religion, age, creed or any other aspect of one's identity should not impede one's ability to earn a fair wage.
That is why we are launching our Equal Play Equal Pay campaign. Inspired by the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team players, the Equal Play Equal campaign is a grassroots effort to engage everyone – especially female soccer players in high school and college – to address the problem of unequal pay and unequal investment in women’s and girl’s soccer, both in the U.S. and worldwide.
The campaign raises awareness, spurs action, and supports culture change for equal pay and equal investment in soccer programs for women and girls alongside men and boys, both in the U.S. and around the world. Our young activists are making their voices heard and supporting U.S. Women’s Soccer through a combination of merch sales (proceeds from our tees and onesies benefit the U.S. Women’s National Team), social media, events, and more.
There are many ways to create impact as part of the Equal Play Equal Pay campaign, but first, we need your help in assembling our core group of grassroots organizers. If you know anyone - especially high school or college-aged soccer players and athletes - who would be interested in joining our grassroots campaign, please send them our way!
